The jewel of the Red Sea is characterized by a promenade that extends for tens of kilometers and enjoys various facilities and services, thanks to the distinctive views of the Red Sea.
Hiking in the North CornicheThe green spaces form a large part of the North Corniche, and everyone likes to sit there facing the Red Sea with families and friends, while children enjoy the games prepared for them in designated places near their families. In addition, the North Corniche is characterized by a vast area of about 236,000 square meters, and extends from the Border Guard Center to the Seagull Roundabout. Moreover, the North Corniche has many service kiosks and restaurants, and there are many recreational places nearby such as Al Shallal Theme Park and the waterfront.
Getting around the Middle Corniche
The Middle Corniche is known by other names, such as: Al Hamra Corniche, and is famous for the tallest fountain in the world (King Fahd's Fountain), and restaurants and service kiosks are spread along it, and you can explore its secrets on foot, as it is estimated to be about 3.6 km long. The breathtaking moment of sunset on the Middle Corniche has another charm, along with enjoying the swaying of palm fronds and behind it the world's most luxurious Ritz-Carlton.
King Fahd's Fountain is the tallest fountain in the world at an altitude of 312 meters and a pumping speed of 350 km/h. The fountain water adorns the sunset of Jeddah on the Middle Corniche. As the fountain continues to display, you can stroll and try food along the various stalls on Al Hamra Corniche. "Seven" is the most popular stalls for visitors to the Corniche promenade. The fountain appears in full splendor at night, when hundreds of colourful lights illuminate the pumping of water that is released into the sky.
The fountain was a gift to Jeddah from King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who ruled the country from 1982 to 2005. Construction took place from 1980 to 1983, and when it opened in 1985 it became one of the city's main tourist attractions. The fountain is located opposite Jeddah's waterfront and uses sea water instead of fresh water to launch its famous pumping. This famous monument will be in the vicinity of a monument that is more than 30 years old amid the waves of the Red Sea.
Located close to the northern end of Corniche Road, the aquarium is the first marine exhibition in Saudi Arabia. It is no coincidence that it was built on the Red Sea coast. The huge tunnels and ponds that make up the aquarium host more than 200 species of fish, 85% of which are home to Jeddah's coral reefs. A tour will give you the chance to discover some of the 800 wonders of the Red Sea, which you will not find anywhere else in the world.
You can meet a lot of fish, such as the Napoleon (tarabani) fish that transforms from female to male or the famous dragging with the two forks on the front of its tail. In addition to the jellyfish called the ksyopia or garden eels, which descend and rise from the sand when visitors approach. There are also scary fish that you will only want to see in an aquarium, such as rock fish that can poison and kill an adult human in just 5 minutes, earning it the reputation of the most poisonous fish in the world!
Aquarium staff are proud that some of the once endangered species – including the huge sea turtle – have been rescued after being injured or sick. And all the animals that have fully recovered are released back into their natural habitat. So what are you waiting for? The jewel of the Red Sea is calling you!
