Dry skin needs extra help to get back moisture and a healthy look. A simple herbal face mask made from yogurt, honey and turmeric puts water back into the skin plus refreshes it - the skin feels soft and smooth.

Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon turmeric paste

Preparation

Put the yogurt in a small bowl, add the honey - stir in the turmeric paste until the mix looks even and smooth. The result is a gentle, natural mask full of nutrients that help the skin.

Storage

Use the mask right away for the best effect. If some mix remains, spoon it into a sealed jar but also keep it in the fridge for no more than seven days. Stir it again before the next use so the parts blend back together.

How to use it

Spread the mask on skin that has been washed and dried. Let it sit for ten to twenty minutes - leave it on longer and turmeric will leave a faint yellow tone. Wash it off with warm water until no trace remains.

Why yogurt instead of milk?

Yogurt is thicker than milk as well as holds more water next to the skin. Both have lactic acid that lifts off dead cells - yet yogurt also carries live cultures that calm the skin and keep its normal bacteria in balance - it suits dry or easily irritated skin.

Benefits

Yogurt: Lactic acid lifts dull surface cells and adds water - live cultures quiet redness or support the skin barrier.
Honey: Pulls water into the skin and stops the growth of unwanted germs.
Turmeric paste: Full of antioxidants that lower redness and lighten dark patches giving the skin a more even tone.
