What a huge amount of hoaxes, how can someone become an expert in just 9 months, right?

Show key points

  • Becoming an expert in a short time is possible by focusing intensely on one niche rather than spreading yourself thin across multiple areas.
  • Hyper-specialization, such as tailoring your services to a specific subset within your field, helps you stand out and command higher value from clients.
  • Creating a "double-sided expert education list" of required skills and curated learning resources is essential for structured, focused growth.

  • Applying what you learn through real-world experiences is crucial for developing a unique perspective that differentiates you as an expert.
  • To truly cement your authority, start teaching others what you learn by writing articles, answering questions, or publishing books.
  • Visibility is key — consistently show up across multiple platforms in your field so that your target audience starts recognizing your name.
  • Dedicating 40 to 100 hours per week and strictly scheduling your learning and application time is necessary to achieve expertise in 9 months.

That's what I thought at first. But everything changed when I tried to do it myself.

Today you'll learn how to become an expert in record time, so people have no choice but to notice you.

1. Focus on something specialized like a madman

You can't focus on 5 things at once. You should focus 100% on just one topic.

The problem that most people face is that they want to become a public expert so that they can reach a wider audience. But it doesn't work that way. People are looking for subject matter experts who can especially help them. Yes, you will get fewer customers, but each customer will be much more valuable. When people look at you as the subject matter expert who can help them in particular, you'll be able to demand higher prices.

You've probably already heard about specialist advice, but just focusing on specialization isn't enough. You need to focus on something specialized like crazy. So, what do I mean by that?

Well, instead of becoming a logo designer for small businesses. Be a logo designer for small restaurants. Better yet, be a logo designer for small Asian restaurants. The goal of this exercise is to be able to position yourself differently so that you can stand out among a group of experts – you must become a completely different expert in the mind of the consumer.

2. Create a double-sided expert education list

You've chosen a very specific topic that you'll focus on over the next nine months (and won't do anything else). It's time to make a list of all the skills you need to acquire, and then a list of the resources you'll use to acquire those skills – hence the name "sides".

So list all the required skills on one side of your paper. Avoid overdoing it and listing skills you don't need. Once the nine-month period is over, you can go ahead and expand your general knowledge.

So, once you get the skills you need are included. It's time to find all the resources you need to get those skills. Your list should contain the following...

Think leaders and experts in your field to learn from and connect with.

Books about your topic.

Related podcasts.

Blogs that write about your topic.

Courses taught by industry experts.

Videos/YouTube channels.

Researchers who publish the latest findings in your field.

This double-sided menu is necessary for at least the first nine months. To be the expert you turn to, you need to be up to date with the latest trends. So make sure your list is updated every month.

3. Follow the learning formula

Reading + Experience = Learn. This is the formula for learning. You read and apply what you have learned and then come up with unique results that help you develop your own point of view regarding the topic. Your results will always be unique in some way, even if it's a little. This uniqueness makes you stand out as an expert.

For example, let's say you want to become a nutritionist. You'll come across different research, try different diets on different people and your results will be different. Of course, it may not be a big difference, but even a small difference makes you develop a unique perspective.

Read, listen and see everything you have in your expert education list. And apply what you learned right away. Ideally, you want to divide your day between consuming knowledge and then applying it. The split ratio will depend on the field in which you work. If you want to be an athlete, exercise will be 90% of your day and reading will be 10%.

On the other hand, a dietitian will spend more time reading rather than applying. But, in both cases, at first you will spend more time applying, so don't be afraid to change the split ratio.

Most importantly, you need to schedule everything in your calendar and plan it in advance. If it's not in the calendar, it won't be done. If you want to achieve all this in 9 months, it means that you need to dedicate 40 to 100 hours per week to this learning process. Yes, no one said it would be easy.

4. Teach what you have learned and share your results

Just because you're an expert, doesn't mean people will look at you as one of them. You need to go there and start teaching people. When you become a teacher for the audience, you will become their expert and they will look to you.

How do you know? The most famous methods are...

Regularly publish articles as a guest on popular blogs in your niche. (Try sending one guest post per week.)

Answer questions in your industry on Quora. (Give your unique in-depth ideas for one question a day.)

Delve into a popular topic by publishing a book. (You can write the book based on your most popular blog posts or Quora's answers.)

In other words, just help people get what they want and solve their problems. Don't do it after 9 months, do it while learning... Share your findings and case studies along the way.

5. Be everywhere

It's not enough just to teach. You have to be everywhere. For example, if you are a dietitian. You need to write for every popular niche blog. Nutrition-conscious readers will read more than one blog. And if they see you everywhere they go... They will have no choice but to notice you. And don't forget that writing for a popular blog gives you credibility.

Just keep it up and you will soon become the expert of choice in your field. You have no excuse now. You have the steps, and now it's time to climb them.
